Week 2 in Costa Rica!!

Dr. Wettergreen gave us a day-off this Monday so we got to go on a walking tour in San Jose. A tour guide showed us around this city where we had a chance to try Costa Rican food in several markets. I especially enjoyed trying twelve kinds of fruits including star fruit, passion fruit, and water apple, which I never had before. I also tried ceviche and pumpkin spiced ice cream as we moved onto different markets. Our final stop was a coffee shop where we got to make our own empanada. This was also when I tried Costa Rican coffee for the first time; personally I do not drink black coffee so I did not enjoy its bitter taste but the scent of coffee beans was so deep and good. It was definitely worth spending $30 for this tour.

We continued our needs finding and implementation class with Dr. Wettergreen since Tuesday. We first worked on a project sketch in which we pitched a project for either freshman teams or senior design teams based on the clinical observations we did last week. My needs finding was finding a solution for pediatric scoliosis patients so that they do not have to get their brace adjusted regularly as they grow. We also set testing plans for previous projects in OEDK; Elliot and I worked on a prosthetic for a kid who needed one for playing basketball.

On Friday, Dr. Wettergreen took us bowling to celebrate our last day of ENGI 350. I think I did a pretty good job than I expected haha

Professor Bisesti’s class started the day right after (which is today) and we worked on a new project all day long. Luke, Leo, and I just started working on NPWT (negative pressure wound therapy) and we are trying to improve upon previous senior design’s prototype.

I feel I didn’t really get to explore Costa Rica this week since we had classes everyday. But I’m excited to go hiking tomorrow and the 4 day long weekend that will come soon 🙂

(unfortunately my airdrop doesn’t work so I can’t upload pics 🙁 )
