Last Week in Costa Rica

Professor Bisesti gave us a four day weekend so we traveled to Manuel Antonio. After a three and a half hour bus ride, we finally got to our airbnb. Honestly the place was out of nowhere and on top of the hill so it was very exhausting to get there. However it all paid off when I finally saw the insane view of nature from the pool of our house.

We went to different beaches every day and also toured the Manuel Antonio National Park. I saw some white-faced Capuchin eating some fruits and sloths as well. A fun fact about sloths I learned during the trip was that they only come down the trees once a week to defecate and climb as high as they can to avoid their predators.

The favorite part of the trip was that I was able to see so many wild animals that I have never seen before; one day on my way to a restaurant I saw a pair of scarlet macaw flying and their vibrant feathers were stunning. There was also a giant iguana and some toucans near the pool of our house.

After a restful trip, the grind started again. We had to finish prototyping and testing in four days. Even though there were some struggles where we had to 3D print the layers for the component mount multiple times and some components not working, we were able to put everything together. Our device definitely has some areas of improvement; however our team was proud of the progress we made with very limited time and resources.

These past four weeks overall were amazing. This was my first time visiting Central America and I am glad to learn their culture and be part of them. I made new friends, had fun, and became a step closer to an engineer that I aspire to be.
