Amsterdam: Blog 1!!

Hi, I’m Jenny, a rising sophomore from Dallas, TX! I love love love Rice (AND MARTEL!!!) because of the tight-knit community, culture of care, and closeness-ish to home (though the Houston humidity and heat might just be the end of me). As of NOW, I am studying Finance and Economics because I just love talking about the NY Stock Exchange, assets and liabilities, and the power of compound interest. Just kidding! I’ve always had an interest in business from my parents’ small business and endless hours binge-watching Shark Tank. I would love to pursue a career in the start-up space, and degrees in finance and econ will build the skills I need to succeed! I’ve really been enjoying my classes and am excited to be taking these summer courses as well.

I decided to study abroad with iSeed this summer because I love exploring entrepreneurship(and was interested in different international perspectives). I also thought it would be fun to take a course outside of my normal course load with the ENGI 200 class to meet new people and challenge myself. I’ve already had so much fun, and it’s only day two. Meeting my team at UvA was a great experience and way to talk to other international students and get some food reccs :D. I was surprised to find that all the students in my group were not Dutch but from Peru, Brazil, and China! Everyone was so kind, and I am definitely hyped to work with them for the next couple of days.

While in Amsterdam, I am super excited to explore with the people here and experience new cities(it’s my first time in europe!). I want to take day trips within and out of the Netherlands, PRAY I CAN FIND AN EMPTY TIME SLOT FOR THE ANNE FRANK MUSEUM, and hopefully meet other people(students or others at the hostel!).

Whenever I explore a new city or surroundings, I like to have a couple activities I want to do but keep it as flexible as possible because I don’t really like strict schedules.

See y’all in blog post #2!
