San Cris First Week

For the first week of San Cristobal, I was unfortunately under the weather for a majority of it, however, I did not let that stop me from exploring the city and what it had to offer!

While I was not able to engage in a lot of the activities with the group, I was still able to appreciate the beautiful views this city has to offer. From the unique architecture of how the houses are all interconnected to the beautiful mountain range that surrounds the city, the views were something that were always a sight for sore eyes.

On Friday, I walked around the city and had a particular interest in these stairs that led to a church. The stairs showed how the city had been integrated with the mountains it stood on, and though it might make things more difficult to get around, it also symbolized a way of being one with he land. I also felt this way when visiting Cantaro Azul. Their creations showed such detail and consideration for the environment they were crafted for.

La Quincanera

On Saturday, the group went to some waterfalls in Chiapas, and it was the most incredible thing I have done on this trip. The park contained 5 waterfalls and some rapids we could swim in. The bright blue hue the water gave was priceless, and it was a nice cold temperature for a ht and humid environment. The group began to hike up the waterfalls, but once we reached the third waterfall, the path ended and only a weathered trail remained until the top, which was 800 feet. The hike was near impossible, but once we had reached the top, only Isa, Gabe, and I remained (Lets go ELECSsssss). The moment I reached the top and saw the final waterfall, I had almost felt a sense of

Instead of walking back, we were lucky enough to zipline back and see the view of everything we had hiked to that point. The combination of seeing the mile I had just hiked while being able to relax and feel the breeze was an unforgettable  Afterwards, we got into the water ,which was such a refreshing experience. Being able to feel the current of the water as gravity takes it down step by step felt invigorating. At one point, I had thought about what EPA standards the flowing water would follow, and how different filtering devices would react to it. Overall, visiting these waterfalls was not only one of my favorite things from the trip, but all together may be one of the most fun activities I have done.
