Where were we? Oh yeah Playa Hermosa.
Anyways, so I met these Belgian dudes friday nights. A friend of mine–Noelle–introduced us, and they quickly adopted me into their possie. Friday night was pride night at Selina, so they were very excited to watch the upcoming show, and were intent on bringing me along. Soon enough, they forced two beers into my hands and we all sat down in the front row.
The Belgian group had some interesting characters. First, we had Forrest, who seemed to lead most of the shenanigans. He’s somewhere in his mid 30’s and is an attourney and Comparative Law professor. For the night, he had an entire outfit of rainbow accessories. Next up, there was Sven, a large man who seemed to survive off of hops and malt. He was wearing a rainbow bandana accompanied by a MAGA hat. Not exactly sure what he was going for with that one. We also had Qaytal, who they called the camel man for some reason. He was pretty chill.
The show was interesting to say the least. Sven got especially into it. Once it was over Noelle and I headed over to La California with some other friends, though the Belgians split ways off to another place.
I planned to leave in the morning, but that never happened, so I booked one more night at Selina. This night, the Belgians filled the fridge with beers, and proclaimed that we would all now “Camel Race”. Turns out Camel Race is a national sport in Belgium, even through it was just a simple card game. It was fun tho.
After many, many rounds of camel racing, we once again headed out, where this time we stuck together. Me and the boys had a fun night, and met a few girls along the way.
Finally, Sunday I headed out to Jaco. My mom’s old friend had a place in Esterillos, so I crashed at his place for the night. I was planning to visit Hermosa in the evening, though unfortuantely there was a crazy thunderstorm going on. Instead, Jim and I had some salad and watched a Nicolas Cage movie.
