Sammy’s ISEED Intro

My name is Sammy Sissman. I’m from Naples, Florida, I’m a freshman at Wiess and I’m majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I played baseball my whole life until graduating high school and all throughout high school I did robotics. Now at Rice, I am on the Olympic Weightlifting Team where we compete at local and national competitions against other schools.

I am pumped for this trip. When I heard I could take classes that would apply for my minor of Engineering Design and study abroad in Mexico, I was on board. Since there are often less study abroad opportunities for engineers, I figured I would take the opportunity. I really don’t have many expectations for the program. I know we’ll have more hands-on experience and more real work that we would in classes while on campus. It will be cool to try to make a real impact. In addition to the class portion, I definitely want to experience Mexican culture. We get to see two different parts of Mexico, the big city and the small town. I think it will be very interesting to compare and contrast those two. Overall, I’m very excited to be here and apart of this program.
