Motorvalley Fest – Modena, Italy

The weekend before iSEED started, I was able to go to the biggest yearly automotive event in Italy! I had been wanting to go to a car show like this for years, and here I finally got the chance to do so. On the day of the event, I did have some trouble because not everyone spoke the same language I did, but I tried and eventually found some really cool people that showed me around. I met Formula Student teams, Engineering Masters Professors and Recruiters, Mechanical Engineers in industry (from different major Italian brands), and many other car enthusiasts.

It’s not directly an activity that’s part of the program, but this and many other opportunities have come up here in Bologna. I have also gone to factories, museums, and even met an ex-F1 driver and LeMans champion (will save that for a later post). I definitely enjoy the historical aspect of the trip, but I think the engineering and specifically automotive related activities are incomparable and an experience that maybe would not be available otherwise. I am taking an asynchronous photography course, and I’ve been forced to document my trip through it, so here are some pics of the Motorvalley Fest and few other cool cars.

As a mechanical engineering major, these type of activities are exactly what I wanted to get out of iSEED. I am exploring a new place, learning about fields relevant to what I want to have a career in, and having fun adventures with the group. I am looking forward to the visits to Ferrari, Lamborghini, and the race in Imola next weekend!
