The first week was absolutely action packed! My activities mainly consisted of walking around the city center of Bologna and admiring the beautiful architecture, the famous Two Towers, and the porticos which line almost every block. I also went to the Pinacoteca Nazionale, a wonderful art museum filled with pieces spanning all the way back to the 14th century.
Additionally, I took the San Luca Express to visit the Santuario di San Luca. This remains my favorite site in all of Bologna as you are able to get views of the whole city and the basilica itself is absolutely gorgeous.
The final highlight of this week came in a day trip to Florence. Though we only had a few hours there, I was able to see the phenomenally detailed facade of the Duomo and watch the best sunset I have ever seen from Piazzale Michelangelo.
